A Refreshing Taste of Toronto
On the perfect sunny Friday afternoon, we took a quick break to visit Taste of Toronto (Toronto’s Summer Culinary Festival), which runs until July 5 at Fort York.
The visit began with a man with a machete serving us a fresh coconut. Couldn’t be off to a better start.

The best part was meeting the entrepreneurs behind some of these healthy creations.
Absolutely love the branding of @Just_Craft_Soda! Great flavours too. Samples at @tasteoftoronto now! #TasteofToronto pic.twitter.com/z0LQZS4WD8

Early on, we tasted the amazing beef from Beretta. Both the steak and burger were perfect, and the staff was very friendly. (Their cows are from King City, but there’s no store there).

Along with the more boutique shops the 70 exhibitors included established brands as well, for my favourite drinks on earth: Iced Tea and Coconut Water.
The @PureLeaf booth is legit. Even @AminahHaghighi agrees. #TasteofToronto pic.twitter.com/5fLNC2GQgY

One of my most favourite coconut water brands was giving out free full-size drinks – they encouraged me to come back for more!
Thanks @VitaCoco for all the free coconut water. My favourite. #TasteofToronto pic.twitter.com/4bT4elHGEH

The live demo in the Cadillac Taste Theatre had Michael Bonacini (of Oliver & Bonacini, of course) cooking a big seafood dish.

We ended off by trying the juice. Super interesting flavours.

Though the prices were high overall, they had a cool payment system where you load a card of crowns and digitally pay along the way. Who carries cash anyway?
